The history of the smashed Web design style began in the the late 1990s, where revoluntionist designer, Christian Mezzina decided to take different parts of design and combine them into a one complicated design. The strategic idea behind the smashed design style is to compensate everyone's needs and then publishing the design.

Sites like the Smashed Llama website, clearly shows the evolution of web design. However, modern sites like Sony offer a technovibe design which interacts with the audiance, thus keeping the user interested. Though the Smashed llama website lacks the interaction is does blow minds away with the colour web design and highly animated graphics.
